Dan Allender
I am a life-long learner and researcher of the human soul, heart, and mind. My training to become a counselor started after years of working in the corporate world and in ministry. During that time, I sensed that I was being invited to walk with people in deeper & compassionate ways. I went back to school and completed a degree in Family Psychology followed by a dual graduate training in counseling and marriage & family therapy which prepared me to become an LPC & LMFT.
After working in private practice I enrolled in seminary and earned a Masters in Theology while completing my PhD coursework. I worked as a counseling educator for 6 years teaching graduate students the process of counseling others. I am also a counseling supervisor; offering guidance to new LAC & LAMFT counselors and helping them to navigate life as a counseling professional.
All of this adds up to a bunch of little letters & certifications after my name, which means nothing to me other than it tells part of my story. The story of my deep search of knowing God, knowing who I am & how to live out my calling in helping others.
A simple description of my counseling approach is that I am naturally curious about you and your story. I sometimes say, “we cannot understand chapter 8 of our lives if we skip the understanding of chapters 4 & 6.” I will compassionately journey with you as we look at the many stories of your life. My desire is that you will not just find some relief from symptoms, but together we will discover the places that needs healing, restored, or set free.
